Down House – Charles Darwin’s home

posted by: Admin, on 23rd May 2011

This morning we took three residents out to Downe House.  Arriving by mini bus, we took in the gardens first.  As well as flowers they had a variety of vegetables and fruits being grown in the grounds.

Upstairs in the house there is an exhibition on on Darwin’s work and theories.  Whilst downstairs you can view all the rooms in their original condition.

We also stopped for tea and cake in the tea rooms, before coming back for a late lunch.

I think everyone had a really enjoyable time, and we had some great feedback.  Mainly that they enjoyed being in the countryside and it’s surroundings.

When I asked where we should go next, I was promptly told “the seaside”.   So hopefully we can get out again before the weather turns.
