This month we baked coconut, cherry, chocolate tray bakes with the residents.  The ingredients and steps were fairly simple so most people were able to join in.  The end products turned out very well, with residents eating them for afternoon tea.

Summer Afternoon Tea

On Saturday 10th August we hosted an afternoon summer tea party for residents and their families/friends.  I was really pleased with the turn out, it was great to see so many familiar faces.

We started with a huge selection of savory and sweet treats.  Followed my several summer farye games, such as ‘guess the weight of the cake’, and ‘how many sweets are there in the jar’.  This was followed by a free tombola and raffle, which seemed to go down well too!

Overall it was a lovely afternoon for everyone to enjoy the sunshine, food and company of their loved ones.  Take a look at some of our pictures.

Vegetable Growing

posted by: Ashcroft, on 16th August 2013

After some much needed sun, followed by thunder showers, the vegetables we have been growing in the garden finally sprouted.  We had some long runner beans, a large cucumber, a couple of strawberries and lots of tomatoes.  We chopped them up, and the residents had a taste.  They all tasted very good, and the residents were pleased with how they had grown over the last couple of months.  There is a picture of the beans in our gallery.
